Kirkstone Silver Green

The Kirkstone Silver Green is also quarried from the Kirkstone Petts quarry, situated 300m west of the Kirkstone Pass. The Silver Green stone is extracted and manufactured 500m above sea level, high in the hills of the English Lake District, to create a silver green stone with strong natural markings and a broad range of shading which helps to exhibit the unique volcanic origins of this robust and attractive stone formed over 450 million years ago.

HONED:
A smooth finish with a slight sheen. This can be applied to both faces and edges of the stone and can be applied to complex shapes and sloping faces.

FLAMTEXED:
A textured finish applied with a high pressure oxygen-propane lance. This can only be applied to a flat face and not available on edges,
complex shapes or sloping faces. If finished edges are required we would offer Honed, Sanded, Gritblasted or for a rougher more natural alternative we would offer a Plucked edge.

GRITBLASTED:
A high-pressure airline projects coarse-grained abrasives, giving a regular non slip finish.
RIVEN:
A finish in which the stone is split along its natural cleavage plane.

SANDED:
The top surfaces of sawn slabs are coarsely diamond sanded to produce a non slip finish.

TEXTURED:
The top surfaces of sawn slabs are pneumatically tooled to produce a grooved or pitted surface..
